Ultram Usage

Ultram is extensively used in the treatment or management of mild to moderately intense pain, especially just after the first signs of pain occur. It can also be used for pain relief in arthritis in combination with other medications for a definite period of time.

Ultram Dosage

Conventionally, Ultram is to be taken one tablet on the occurrence of prime signs of pain. Although it is not recommended to consume another medication for the next 24 hours, a second dose can be administered after 7 hours for enhancing the pain relief. However, the total dose taken should not cross the limit of 4 tablets in 24 hours.

Ultram Side Effects

Some of the side effects that can be experienced by the patient include:

  • Abdominal or stomach fullness
  • abnormal or decreased touch sensation
  • blisters under the skin
  • bloating
  • blood in the urine
  • blood pressure increased
  • blurred vision
  • change in walking and balance
  • chest pain or discomfort
  • chills
  • convulsions (seizures)
  • darkened urine or increase in frequency or difficulty in the procedure
  • dizziness or feeling lightheaded when getting up from a lying or sitting position

  • gaseous abdominal or stomach pain

  • loss of memory

Ultram Precautions

The doctor should be notified if the patient suffers or has suffered in the past from the following:

  • liver or kidney disease;
  • a stomach disorder; or
  • history of drug abuse, alcohol addiction, mental illness, or suicide attempt.

Other medical conditions such as pregnancy or lactation, migraine headaches or spasms should also be mentioned to the prescribing doctor.
